Chemicals - Technical Notes
Matrix Innovation has developed a new patented
100% PEG resin that offers a tremendous advantage over polystyrene
resin for long and difficult peptides. With its highly crosslinked
matrix it has unsurpassed mechanical and thermal stabilities.

Higher chemical stability
ChemMatrix is made exclusively from primary ether bonds
which are known to be highly chemically stable. This matrix
is therefore much more stable than any other commercial amphiphilic
resins.
Higher loadings
The standard loadings of commercial amphiphilic resins are
mainly from 0,2 up to 0,4 mmol/g. With even a better amphiphilicity
ChemMatrix has loadings between 0.8 to 1.0 mmol/g, which
is up to 3 times the loadings of other PEG resins.
Purer crude products
ChemMatrix resin has been compared to polystyrene resin for
the synthesis of many difficult peptides and the results cleary
demonstrate a huge advantage in using it. Results are shown
in the following pages.
Free flowing
ChemMatrix is a user friendly resin because it is delivered
as free flowing powder. It is easily weighted and transfered
with minimum losses on glassware.
Higher compatibility with solvents
ChemMatrix allows the use of almost any kind of solvent,
even water. The standard solvents used for polystyrene, such
as dichloromethane and THF, are also very compatible with
ChemMatrix Some amphiphilic resins are known to have
a good swelling, but the loading and/or the mechanical stability
are affected. Usually, these resins become tacky and hard
to handle once solvated. You will be surprised to see how
ChemMatrix is easily filtered and washed with almost
any solvents.
