Activotec merges with Southampton Polypeptides

Activotec, a company providing enabling synthesis instrumentation and chemicals has merged with Southampton Polypeptides, a spinout from the University of Southampton, having unique technologies for the synthesis of peptide and protein drugs. The joint company will be known as Activotec. Activotec will supply synthesizers for peptide and organic chemistry, and amino acids, resins and reagents. Activotec will continue to expand its custom peptide synthesis operation from its state of the art laboratories in Southampton.

In a major new initiative made possible by it's new capabilities under the merger Activotec is developing new peptide, protein and peptidomimetic drugs with improved protease stability. These are being co-developed with pharmaceutical company partners.

Peptide production and research and development will operate out of Southampton with sales, marketing and technical support located near Cambridge.

Dr Ram Sharma is the scientific founder of the company, Dr Peter Laing is the company chairman and Mr Chris Littlewood is CEO.

Activotec maintains its high standard of commitment to customer service, and expects existing customers and suppliers to benefit from the merger through the enhanced product range and larger team to sell and support products.
